Sewing Your Sophie Nursing Dress: Fabric and Supplies

Fabric

Fabric: Choose a lightweight, flowing fabric such as cotton voile, viscose, or polyester.

Required fabric dimensions for a 140 cm (55") wide fabric:

Sizes 34 to 44: 110 cm (43").

Sizes 46 to 54: 225 cm (89").

To save fabric (or play with the direction of a print), you can choose to cut your pieces along the straight grain (classic direction) or the cross grain.

The tutorial provides a cutting layout for both options.

Cut the fabric on the straight grain or cross grain

Supplies

1 meter of 4 cm wide bias tape
16 cm of cotton twill tape
2 or 4 Prym 8mm snaps (2 for sizes 34 to 40 / 4 for sizes 42 to 54)

How to sew my nursing dress?

Have you never used a PDF pattern before?
The process is super simple!

Download your pattern
When you place your order, you will immediately receive an email with the link to download the file containing your nursing sweatshirt pattern and the corresponding tutorial.
Print your pattern
Print the pattern, making sure in the print settings that the "Actual Size" option is selected.
The test square on the first page lets you check that the scale is correct and that your pattern is the right size.
Cut out your pattern
With your favorite scissors, cut around the edges so you can easily assemble your pattern.
The little pairs of scissors placed strategically on the pattern let you know where to cut (and where not to cut!) for a stress-free assembly!
Assemble your pattern
All you need to do is tape the different sheets together following the provided diagram.
The edges left in the previous step serve as a guide to attach the next sheet.
Pro tip: Place the tape on the edges of the pattern.
Once the pattern is cut out, they will be sturdier.
